We need to reframe success by rebecca lockwood

So many people find themselves chasing this idea of success. Chasing this something and when it comes to it they say “what next” or “what now” and it never ends.

Sometimes people get there and realise it was never what they even wanted in the first place.

We are taught in society that success means being productive, being on all the time. Having things. This is one of the biggest ones. Having things.

Even when we create vision boards we add things that we want. Things that we think will fill us up, and all of these things are outside of ourselves. They are not us and they ultimately do not bring happiness.

However, everyone wants success because they thing that this will ultimately bring happiness.

Here are a few things we need to do to ensure we are checking in with ourselves and not chasing some version of success that we really never wanted:

Ask yourself – is this actually my version of success? What does success mean to me?

We see so many people doing amazing things and we think we want what they do, so we start to move towards that. Then we get there and we are unhappy, or we realise when it is too late we never wanted it anyway.

Being busy all the time does not equal success.

We think that when we are busy and have lots going on that this means we are successful. Is this really what you want though? How do you actually want to spend your time? This is the question you should be asking yourself.

Filling yourself up with things outside of yourself will not always mean success for you.

Marketing is very clever. All marketing feeds you is the idea that you have to buy something to make you feel like you are a success. To make you happy. This is so you will buy their things. Always remember this. People all the time are making themselves broke trying to look rich to other people.
